How to set up participant insurance
Participant insurance lets you offer everyone who registers for your Activity the option to buy an insurance Policy right when placing an Order — no need to find an insurance company and arrange this yourself.
How to turn on insurance
Insurance is set up separately for each Activity, not for the whole event. If an event has several Activities, enable the option for each one individually.
- Open the event you need and go to the Activities section.
- Open the card of the Activity you need and click Edit to enter edit mode.
- In the edit steps menu, choose Insurance.
If insurance is already available for this Activity’s sport, the settings page will open — see below for what each field means. If not, see If insurance isn’t available for the sport.
💡 Tip. The Activity’s sport defaults to the sport set in the event’s own settings. You can change it in the Activity’s own settings. Make sure the sport shown is really the one you need insurance for — it affects the premium the participant will pay.
What the fields on the insurance page mean
- Sport. The sport linked to the Activity. This field is for reference only: you can’t change it on this step — the sport can be changed in the Activity’s own settings.
- Policy start and end dates. Calculated automatically from the Activity’s own dates and can’t be edited manually. The end date is set one day after the Activity’s end date — meaning the policy is effectively valid through 23:59 of the Activity’s last day. If the Activity’s dates change later on, the platform automatically reissues participants’ existing policies with the new dates — the insurance cost doesn’t change.
- Insured sum. The amount the participant is insured for. Entered in rubles and must be between 50,000 and 300,000 rubles. If you enter an amount below or above these limits, the system automatically adjusts it to the nearest limit.
- Insurance premium. The amount the participant will pay for the policy when placing an Order. Calculated automatically and updates as you change the insured sum.
- Enabled. A checkbox that turns the insurance offer on or off for this Activity’s participants. While it’s unchecked, participants won’t see an offer to buy a policy at registration.
Once you’ve filled in the fields and checked Enabled, save your changes.
How the insurance premium is calculated
The premium isn’t a flat rate — it depends on several factors at once:
- Insured sum. The higher the sum, the higher the premium.
- Sport risk. Every sport has its own risk category — the riskier the sport, the higher the premium for the same insured sum.
- Policy duration. The longer the period between the policy’s start and end dates, the higher the premium — but not proportionally: shorter periods get discount coefficients.
You can change the insured sum at any time — the premium recalculates on the settings page each time you do. Changing the sum doesn’t retroactively affect Orders participants have already placed: their Policy and premium are already locked in at the time of purchase.
If insurance isn’t available for the sport
If a risk category hasn’t been set up yet for the Activity’s sport, instead of the settings form you’ll see this message:
“Insurance isn’t set up for this sport yet. Contact support to have it added”
The screen will only show Back and Continue buttons. Insurance will stay unavailable for this Activity until support adds a risk category for its sport.
What to do in this case:
- Click Continue to finish the rest of the Activity’s edit steps without insurance — this won’t stop you from publishing the Activity.
- Contact support and tell them which sport needs insurance added.
- Once support sets up the risk category, come back to this same edit step and fill in the insurance settings as described above.
What the participant sees
If insurance is enabled, the participant sees an offer to buy insurance on the checkout page for their Order: a block with the text “You need insurance to take part in the event. If you don’t have it, you can add a policy to your current order or purchase it later in your Account,” along with the policy’s start and end dates, the sport, and an Add button.
The participant can accept right away — the insurance premium is then added to their current Order — or decline and buy insurance later as a separate Order through their Account. Either way, the issued Policy and insurance contract are emailed to the participant.
A policy can be issued for participants aged 3 to 70. For full insurance terms, the insurance program, and the insurance company’s contacts, see myrace.info/vsk.
FAQ
Can I change the insured sum after participants have already registered?
Yes, the insured sum field can be changed at any time. The new sum and premium apply to Orders placed after the change. Anyone who already bought a Policy keeps the sum and premium they had at the time of purchase.
What if I don’t know my sport’s risk category?
You don’t need to — the platform’s support team sets up the risk category for each sport, not the organizer. If a category is already set up for your sport, the insurance form opens on its own, and the premium factors in the risk automatically. If the category isn’t set up yet, you’ll see a message about it — just contact support.
What happens to existing policies if I reschedule the Activity’s dates?
The platform automatically reissues participants’ policies with the Activity’s new dates. The insurance cost doesn’t change.
How does a participant get a refund for a policy they bought?
Refunds go through the insurance company directly, not the organizer or MyRace support. See myrace.info/vsk for the insurance company’s contacts and terms.
