How to merge duplicate child profiles

What to do if the Family section ends up with two profiles for the same child: how to move start history from the duplicate into the main profile and end up with one tidy card.

Sometimes the Family section ends up with two profiles for the same child — for example, a new card got created during a later registration instead of picking the one that already existed. The profile merge feature moves registration history from the duplicate into the main profile, so the child ends up with one tidy card.

When you need this

If the Family section has two profiles for the same child — say, one was created when you registered for the first start, and a second one appeared by mistake when registering for the next one — you can merge them.

Merging moves all the registration history from one (duplicate) profile into another (main) profile, so the child ends up with a single, complete card with their full participation history, and you can delete the extra one.

If instead you need to transfer a child’s history to their own, separately created account — once the child has grown up and set up a login themselves — that’s a different feature, covered in its own article.

How to start a merge

  1. In the Family section, open the card of the profile you consider a duplicate — the one the history will be moved from.
  2. Go to profile merging.
  3. Select the second child profile from the ones already in Family — the one that will stay as the main profile and receive the history.
  4. On the confirmation screen, check both cards — the profile the history is moving from and the profile that will receive it — and click Merge.

When merging isn’t available

  • The profile has no participation history. If the selected (source) profile has no start registrations at all, there’s nothing to merge — the system will offer to simply delete the empty profile instead of starting a merge.
  • The profile has a registration for a future start. A profile like this can’t be used as the source for a merge — that is, you can’t move its history into another profile — because an active registration for an upcoming start needs to stay linked to its own profile. That profile can, however, be used as the main one that receives history from other duplicates.

What happens after merging

All registration history — past and no-longer-active — moves into the main profile you selected, and shows up there from then on.

The source profile stays in the Family section after the transfer, but now it’s empty, with no registrations left — a clear duplicate. You can delete it manually, as a separate step, from Family.
