How to set up priority registration

Priority registration is a way to give an edge to participants who’ve already been to your past events: they get access to registration for a new event earlier than everyone else, while general registration is still closed.

What a priority registration rule is

A rule consists of a name (visible only to you) and a list of qualifying events — past events that, if a participant took part in them, earn them priority access to the new event.

A rule doesn’t do anything by itself — you need to create it, and then separately attach it to a specific event.

How to create a rule

A rule is created in the Marketing → Rules section. Click the add-rule button, give it a name — it’s only for your own reference in the list, participants never see it — and select one or more past events whose participants will be able to register for the new event with priority.

How to attach a rule to an event

A rule is attached in the event’s own settings, under Event → Promo → Priority: mark there which of your already created rules should apply to this event. Without this step, the rule isn’t applied, even if it’s saved in the general list.

You can attach several rules to one event at once — a participant only needs to match at least one of them to get priority.

How priority affects the registration button for participants

If no priority registration rules are attached to the event, the registration button works as usual, with no restrictions.

If rules are attached, the button is available to a participant who has previously registered for at least one of the qualifying events from any of the attached rules — regardless of whether general registration for the event is currently open or still closed. For everyone else, the button is available or not based on the event’s regular registration status: while it’s closed, the button isn’t available to them.

The only condition that actually matters for priority registration is that the event must be published. The registration status (open or closed) doesn’t affect priority access. But if the event isn’t published, priority registration naturally doesn’t work either — just like regular registration for that event.
